Green Buildings and Air Quality Wind Tunnel Measurements at KIT
Effects of building wall and roof greening on indoor air quality are being studied during the first Twin Test of the TWEET-IE project that took place at KIT (Karlsruhe).
Does vegetation improve or inhibit the exchange of air with the outdoors ?
How does it affect wind flow around the building?
Two models of building wall and roof greening are used for this analysis.
The test draws from KIT’s expertise in physical modelling of vegetation and the effects of vegetation on urban flows. This is relevant to building energy efficiency, urban air pollution, pedestrian comfort and city resilience to climate change.
