Twin Test 2 tests in NTUA Wind Tunnel
The Twin Test 2 (TWT2) tests in NTUA Wind Tunnel were successfully concluded with the participation of TUM, TUDELFT and NTUA.
The TWEET-IE project TWT2 tests focus on wake interactions of a cluster of turbines and wake steering techniques. By implementing various wake control strategies it is possible to significantly increase the energy production of a wind farm.
A series of tests was carried out at NTUA for two G1 wind turbine models (rotor diameter=1.1m), where wake control parameters like helix (blade pitching), rotor yaw angle were investigated, with low turbulance and passive turbulance grid modeling. 3D-PTV (Particle Tracking Velocimetry) method is used and experimental measurements included flow velocity, produced power and loads for a range of tip speed ratios.
