Twin Tests 4 tests in NTUA Wind Tunnel

The first part of Twin Test 4 (TWT4) “Scale effects in urban flows” has been completed at the NTUA Wind Tunnel. TU Delft kindly provided a robotic arm tomographic PIV system with a helium filled soap bubble generator to study the flow in an urban street canyon.

In the following video the tomographic PIV system focuses at the street canyon flow between two blocks of buildings. The flow is illuminated and the cameras are capable of taking photos of the flow with a frequency of 1KHz. The flow passes above the buildings roofs, in addition a canyon vortex is generated between the two blocks. The whole street canyon flow is scanned in a step by step automated procedure.
